Fake AirPods Detection Added to iOS 16
After the iPhone 14 launch event, the company has rolled out iOS 16 RC for developers and public beta testers. In the same release, 9to5Mac found internal system files that allow iOS 16 to determine whether AirPods are genuine or fake. Earlier, Apple rolled out an update to detect parts of the iPhone and iPad in iOS 15.2.
If someone tries to fake AirPods after installing iOS 16, they will get this message: “These headphones cannot be verified as original AirPods and may function differently. (“These headphones could not be verified as genuine AirPods and may not behave as expected.”) A “Learn More” button will appear in the pop-up.
As reported by 9to5Mac, this button will take users to the support article on Apple’s website. That article will lead you to the article on parts and service history of the iPhone. Along with this a “Don’t Connect” button will also be given. Apple will not stop the user from using fake headphones but the user will have the option to decide whether the user wants to use them or not after knowing if they are fake.
Apple also announced AirPods Pro 2 at this event. Many upgrades have been given in the second-generation AirPods Pro. They also come with 2x more noise-cancellation, new ear tip, touch controls and a new charging case.
